The Wooden Rustic Headboard

This is a project I would love to make in the near future.

It’s a wood rustic headboard.

How amazing would it be to have a nature-themed bedroom? And to take the first step, I want to attempt to make my own headboard piece.

(By the way, if you don’t know what a headboard is, it’s the flat piece that separates your bed from the wall.)

I found this on ThisOldHouse.com. Check it out. I think it’s very pretty. It can be a bit much but I like the simplicity it has.

I also found a smaller one. This is from Houzz.com. (This is one of my most favorite websites when it comes to home and interior decorating.) I like the eclectic look of this headboard. I also love the grayish color it has, too.

This headboard is, hands down, my favorite. It seems easier to make and the materials needed are minimal. Check it out: Ana-White.com. This site tells you everything you need, from the materials to even the estimated costs.

Prettyhandygirl.com‘s blog has photos, materials, and directions on how to build a headpiece. I like this one, too, but it doesn’t have that ‘raw’ look to it. It’s cute, but not my style.

I really hope to tackle this one day soon as I am planning on moving next summer. My new room could definitely use a makeover. How exciting!

The Ladder Garden

I’ve been researching this DIY project for about a month now, and I’ve seen so many different styles and shapes of ladder gardens. Before we get into some examples of what I want to build, let me tell you what a ladder garden is. A ladder garden is, in literal terms, a garden that is in a shape of a ladder. Here is an example: (Visit this website: Click MeEe)

From what I’ve seen on the Internet, it doesn’t seem like an easy project. However, I’ve really been wanting one and I don’t have the means nor do I want to spend a couple hundred bucks on it. I would rather make it and save money.

There’s a version of the ladder garden that basically uses an old, metal ladder. I personally want the material to be made out of wood and preferably shorter. Here’s the metal version: Click MeEe.

This next one would be the one I would attempt to build. I would definitely need the help of my fiancé, a crafty woodworker, to help me purchase, measure, cut, sand, tint and build the ladder. Here’s the one I really want to attempt to build if I were to build one in the future: Click MeEe.

I hope to make this soon. I think it’ll be an awesome way to display all my cactus plants. (I love cactus, BTW)
